MYP

The profile of the MYP:

In the process of Authorization by the International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO), At-Tamimi International School is an IB MYP Candidate School, offering the Middle Years Programme (MYP). At-Tamimi International School is the FIRST & Only International Islamic School in Malaysia to be awarded Candidacy status by the International Baccalaureate (IB) governing body to implement the IB Middle Years Programme (MYP).

The MYP is the abbreviation of the Middle Years Programme. It is the bridge between the Diploma Programme (DP) and the Primary Years Programme (PYP). It is designed for the students aged 11-16, corresponding with our Grades 6-10 to prepare them for the DP in order to lay a solid knowledge foundation for their success in the world top universities and, as a result, they can become outstanding global citizens. The MYP is a challenging framework that encourages students to make practical connection between their studies and the real world.

The curriculum consists of eight subject groups, each requiring a minimum of 50 hours of instruction per academic year, providing students opportunities to develop the knowledge, attitude and skills they need in order to manage complexity and take responsible actions for the future. The MYP helps to prepare students for further education, the work place and a life time of learning.

During their fifth year of study in the MYP, all students are required to undertake a personal project, demonstrating what they have learned. Each student develops a personal subject independently, producing a truly personal and creative piece of work that stands as a summative review of their ability to conduct independent work.
